Menace of rash driving at Bandra

Police who are in the news for fabricating cases against innocent activists seem to have no time to act against criminal motorists threatening innocent lives.

Police who are in the news for fabricating cases against innocent activists seem to have no time to act against criminal motorists threatening innocent lives. Rash driving continues to remain a big menace at Carter Road in Bandra in close proximity to the additional  police commissioner’s office. And elsewhere too.

Recently a motor cyclist drove so rashly towards Khar Danda that his vehicle breached the promenade wall and the vehicle was flung in the air past the promenade into the mangrove plants on the seaside. Heard this from a regular walker there. The cement concrete debris lay around for months after the incident. It is a miracle no one sitting or walking was hurt.

Thought about the incident when I read in TOI today about the municipal corporation taking over the promenade from the  maritime board. People are not interested in silly quarrels going on all the time between these bodies and the mutual blame game. One single overall authority needs to be responsible when something goes wrong.  Debris lying around for ages on a major site is a poor reflection on urban governance. Politicians too need to look at larger issues  beyond photo ops and interests of contractors.
