The fact is that even though farming is a pressing issue in the country, the country does not currently have a holistic, visible and well-articulated framework to advance agriculture, farming, animal husbandry and allied subjects.

Mr. R Gopalakrishnan is a corporate leader, author and a teacher. He has been a professional manager since 1967 and has served as Chairman of Unilever Arabia, MD of Brooke Bond Lipton and Vice Chairman of Hindustan Lever. He served as a Director of Tata Sons and as ED of several companies of the Tata group, the salt-to-software conglomerate that is one of India's largest and oldest groups. He also serves as an independent director of listed companies, Akzo Nobel India, Castrol India, and Hemas Holdings PLC, Sri Lanka. Gopal has authored several books, amog them'A Biography of Innovations', which was published by the Penguin Random house India in Dec. 2017. Some of his other books are 'The case of the bonsai manager', 'When the penny drops', 'What the CEO really wants from you', 'A comma in a sentence' and 'Six lenses'.
